Steps on How to Make My Own Website
Like you, I also didn't know how to make my own website before. I thought that learning how to make my own website is too technical and I couldn't do it. I realized however that it's now easy to build a website and even those who does not have any programming skills can now do it.
Simple Steps I Learned on How to Make My Own Website
1. Choose a topic to focus into
The first thing I'm doing before making my new website is deciding first on what particular topic I will focus into. For example, when I made my Video Production Tutorial website, I decided to focus on video production. This topic is even a bit broad because I just learned that the narrower the topic is, the better.
2. Get a domain name
When I'm done deciding on what topic I will focus in my website, I'll now go ahead and check on a domain name that I will sure for my website. I can just use any domain name I like but I realized that it is better to search for rich keywords and use it as a domain name. When we say rich keywords, these are phrases that has large amount of searches but only few websites used them. I'm not saying that it is the only way though. I can of course use a brand name as my domain name too but it may take longer for me to rank well in the search engines.
3. Find a place for hosting
After having a domain name, the next step I do is to look for a place where I can host the site. There are so many sites out there that offers web hosting services. I found many good places too but I'm just taking advantage of the free hosting I have right now in an online university I'm studying internet marketing.
4. Design the site
When the site is now hosted, I then design it. I thought of placing a lot of graphics before to make my website really look that great but I realized that it's not good at all. I usually make simple web designs to my sites now in order for them to load faster.
5. Add contents
When the design is done and I'm completely satisfied with it, I then add some contents to my site. These are the articles, photos, and sometimes I also add some videos.
So those are the simple steps I learned on how to make my own website. I'm not a very technical person myself but I realized that it's easy to learn how to make my own website.
