Silver Age Comic Books! The New Gold Rush In Investments!

If you think that comic books aren't worth investing in, think again. It's been proven over and over that comics can be quite profitable. However, in this day and age, your best bet in comic investments are Silver Age comics, and this article will give you the reasons why.

Modern comics are those comics published from 1992 until now, although many debate about the exact dates, and have way too many copies floating around the market. Even worse is that many of these copies are high grade.

This is not the case with Silver Age comics. The books from the Silver Age era were meant to be disposable, much like newspapers. Even more so, kids of that era did not take very good care of them. Very few thought that these readable treasures would one day be valuable, unlike the frame of mind today.

That's, perhaps, one of the biggest reasons why I concentrate most of my investments within the Silver Age era. Another reason why is because this was when the comic book industry shifted it's market largely toward the superhero genre.

A lot of the popular characters we know of today made their very first appearances during the Silver Age era. Spider-Man made his debut during this time, as well as characters from The Fantastic Four, The X-Men (original team), Iron Man, Thor, The Avengers, etc.

So during this time period of comics a lot of popular 1st appearances were made in the industry. These characters are popular today and in demand. That means many of the 1st appearances of a character's most popular villains also made their debut during the Silver Age of comics.

The hype of comic movies from Hollywood has also heightened the demand for such key issues. With the recent Thor movie, demand for the 1st appearance of The Destroyer rose as well as The Sandman's 1st appearance in Spider-Man 3.

Older comics are more rare and that's because they have less in circulation within the comic market as opposed to newer comics, but that's not the only reason they are so valuable. So many of the popular characters came from that era, as well as their villains.

It's harder to create a comic character today that will have the same impact as Spider-Man or many of the characters created during the Silver Age. Sure there are popular new characters but nothing compared to the older characters. Will new characters stack up within the test of time? Perhaps, but very few.

With a little bit of know-how, you can start investing in Silver Age comics and profiting from these investments as well. You just need to learn what to look out for.
